Lucky Wedding Date 7-7-7

Many brides are planning their wedding date after getting engaged recently and 2007 has many great dates for the superstitious or numerically-minded. A few great dates include:

  • May 6, 2007 (5/6/7)
  • July 5, 2007 (7/7/7)
  • September 8, 2007 (9/8/7)

Last year was the year of the Devil's wedding date on 6/6/6 and many brides around the world specifically planned that day to celebrate for the rest of their lives.

Las Vegas Gears Up for Valentine's Day Weddings

Happy_valentines_day Las Vegas has long been the place for couples in love to wed, whether planned ahead or not, and because it's so easy to marry at the last minute it has become the go-to place for eloping as well.

As we approach Valentine's Day this week, the hottest day in weddings in Las Vegas, one must wonder how many couples will marry on Wednesday, February 14. With some statistics showing that 5x the amount of brides marry on Valentine's Day in Vegas than any other day and other stats showing that more than 130,000 weddings occur in Las Vegas each year, my rough calculations say that nearly 2,000 weddings will happen on Wednesday. That's almost 100 wedding per minute.

Keep in mind the new hours for obtaining a marriage licence in Las Vegas.

Local Hawaiian Bride

This is a great story. A writer for the Honolulu Advertiser has started a wedding blog for her November 21 wedding. She married a pilot in the military who is scheduled to leave for Afganistan.

To add to the stress of planning a wedding she is also dealing with a time crunch. Her blog is great, very funny at times. She has great tips that she has learned along the way. Check it out at http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/current/il/weddingblog

Tom and Katie Wedding Date Set

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have finally set a wedding date for November 18 in Italy. Holmes will be wearing a Giorgio Armani wedding dress and Tom will be decked out I'm sure.

The couple have been one of the most searched couples on the Internet this year with details of a family fight that close friends incorrectly thought would end the relationship last Christmas season. Then came Suri, the most talked about baby of 2006, whose picture took several weeks to appear which had some speculating that the baby was never born. Now they have the challenge of trying to trump Nicole and Keith's Aussie wedding to garner even more media attention.

Beyonce Shoots Down Wedding Rumors

Beyonce_ellen From the lips of Beyonce, "I'm not engaged. It's a big fat rumor."

On stage with Ellen, Beyonce sets it straight that she and Jay-Z are not engaged and planning to get married in November. I'm thinking it's just a way of getting some privacy for the big day. However, she seemed very sincere about it.

On the flip-side, Charlotte Church is already planning to sell her wedding pictures for over $3 million and she's not even engaged. Now that's entrepreneurship.

Beyonce Engaged to Jay-Z

When big-time rapper wants to marry big-time actress/hip hop star it still requires the father's blessing -- maybe even more so. However, with that out of the way, Beyonce is ready to get her plan on. She is hoping to plan a "wedding to end all weddings" and is reportedly planning a fairytale wedding on the island of Anguilla in the Caribbean later this year.

I'm sure it will likely be huge in nature with over indulgence to match that of the oil tycoon daughter's wedding in 2004 where they spent $60 million outsourcing Donald Trump, luxury titan Bernard Arnault of France and Andrei Melnichenko of Russia to trump (no pun intended) all weddings of the time.

Las Vegas Marriage License Changes

This may be the biggest news story in the wedding industry for some time. County officials approved new hours for the Las Vegas marriage bureau, which will only affect about 4% (4900 total licenses) per year but will likely have other consequences for the Las Vegas Wedding market.

Charlotte Richards, whose 24-hour Little White Wedding Chapel married Spears, said the new hours are contrary to Las Vegas' billing as a 24-hour town and would certainly take the love-struck by surprise

LA Daily News

There is a certain stigma about Las Vegas and the need to remain a 24-hour town is at debate, but I applaud County officials for cost cutting -- it's a welcome change.

Richards said she marries 10 to 20 couples after midnight on a typical weekend. She provides a stretch limo to shuttle the betrothed back and forth to the courthouse to obtain a license for the ceremony. She said pre-dawn weddings are popular among members of the military, lovers driving in from Southern California and celebrities.

"All the stars come out at night," Richards said. "People that are high profile, when they come down to Las Vegas to get married, they don't want to come in the middle of the day when people are around. They like the privacy."

ABC News

Be sure to plan ahead when getting married in Las Vegas.

Wedding Cake Design

Long time readers already know I was married at 18 -- young and completely clueless. I'm sure I said things that didn't make any sense throughout our engagement and marriage simply because I wasn't thinking when I opened my mouth -- we're good at that.

But I usually would catch myself or at least laugh about it when my loving wife would point it out. To not realize where you went wrong makes for great entertainment, however.

Read about Erica & Greg's wedding cake planning details:

ERICA: As we pass by a bakery window with towering wedding cakes, Greg casually asks me (with a perfectly straight face): "How many floors will our wedding cake have?"

ericaweddingcakefloors.jpg
"How many FLOORS?"

"Yeah, how many floors?" he repeats. "How many cakes will be on our cake?"

OK, so Greg doesn't know the term "cake tier"...no big deal, really. It was actually kind of cute.

"Probably three-ish," I respond.

"Ok, three floors will be cool," he says.

I'm glad our women think we're "cute" regardless of our regular lapses in brain activity.

Wedding Nixed After Bride and Groom Brawl

As we kick-off the 2006 wedding season, I must bring this very disturbing news about a bride and groom who can't shouldn't get married because they were throwing punches the night before.

Ali Aghili, 37, and Marney Hurst, 33, both of Boulder, were to be married Saturday night at the posh Little Nell Hotel.

Instead, they got into a fight the night before and police arrested them because both allegedly threw punches, said police Sgt. Steve Smith.

The wedding had to be called off because their $250 bond conditions required them to stay away from each other, Smith said. He said it took police three hours to sort out the incident.

I guess it goes to show that people don't change after marriage, but rather their inner-self truly comes out.

When we were married, almost 12 years ago, we didn't have clue. We were 18 and trying to figure ourselves out let alone someone else. We finished growing up together with the odds against us, which probably fueled our desire to make it work, with a committment to one another.

Nicole & Keith's Vows Down Under

Several months of speculation have been put to rest regarding Nicole and Keith's wedding plans. It's about time they confirm their wedding.

"We are very happy to be back in Australia," they said in a joint statement. "We have come home to celebrate our wedding with our family and friends."

There is still no word on the exact date and time, but it has been rumored to be this weekend at a Catholic church near the home of Kidman's family in the northern suburbs of Sydney.

Nikki Cox and Jay Mohr Engaged

Congrats to Nikki and Jay!

But for a couple who claims to want to keep wedding plans "as low-key as possible" for their current plans for a Fall wedding in Southern California, Nikki Cox and Jay Mohr are doing a poor job by talking to In Style Magazine and Entertainment Tonight.

Nikki is deciding between two Monique Lhuillier dresses, and Jay is still finding the courage to formalize his proposal. Get with it, pal.

Nicole Kidman Cancels Aussie Wedding

After their Aussie ceremony gained too much attention in the media, Nicole Kidman apparantly canceled plans for an Australian wedding in favor of a more home town wedding in Nashville, Tennessee where fiance Keith Urban has adopted as a second home.

The wedding rumors have been fierce over the past couple months, and the amount of interest in Nicole and Keith's wedding is immense.

Today's news is a little more in sync for a June wedding in Nashville:

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Wedding Date Set

Nicolekidmankeithurban2It's official now, according to Extra and two sources close to the couple that the much talked-about celebrity wedding will occur in Nashville within the next two weeks.

I wonder if Nicole and Keith, much like any other superstar, changes their plans constantly just to keep themselves in the news during times like this. It's not a bad marketing move that once you're hot, you prolong it as best you can.

Anyway, we wish them the best!

Engagement ideas for the holidays
