Are you planning a fall wedding and need some reception centerpiece ideas that take advantage of all the season has to offer? Fall is associated with harvest time and warm, rich colors so make sure to use them to your advantage. (Remember how I said before that Orange is the color for weddings this season?) Most reception halls are already decorated, so your wedding centerpieces are the most effective way to customize the decor to your liking. Make the most of this opportunity!
Here are a few ideas...
For a relaxed atmosphere, use baskets filled with seasonal fruits such as apples. A mix of red, yellow, and green apples is stunning, or use just one color that will complement your bridal party colors. The smell of the apples will be better than scented candles and less offensive to those with allergies. The type of basket you choose will also determine how casual or elegant your centerpieces look.
Here’s another apple idea….fill a glass bowl with clear decorative stones with an apple nestled in amongst them. Hollow out a space in the top of an apple for a tea light. You'll have the yummy smell of fresh apples as well as some soft mood lighting for your reception, all in one easy to take home bowl.
Want flowers? Use terra cotta pots with chrysanthemums of one or a variety of colors. Tie a ribbon around the pots and you're done.
Or fill a vase with a mixture of dried wheat, daisies, and small roses for a stunning Fall flower arrangement. Try different versions of this arrangement out at home beforehand to find out what colors and mixtures you prefer.
You could also place candles of varying heights on a mirrored plate with colorful stones sprinkled around them. Use warm fall colors such as red, orange, yellow or brown.
Mix and match these ideas to suit your personalities and the atmosphere you want for your reception. Fall is a great season and an exciting time to get married, just remember Have Fun….and Enjoy It!

I guess I find it curious while I read columns regarding getting married on 8/8/08. As if getting married on this day will make it "more" special or give you "luck"...?
As I continue to watch I suppose my perspective is different. Brides/Grooms, people, human beings are always looking to leave their mark, kind of like "blogging". Everyone wants something special, unique and different
After being married 18 years, I realize the "special" dates are things that surprise you. That is what makes them special. You don't have control over the day your son was born...2/4/93 or 5/25/95. How about the day that you closed on your first home 6/13/95. Should I have closed on 5/5/05 ?
These are the dates that are special to me because they caught me by surprise. The date of the month is not special, what happened on the day is special. It definitely changed from the way I intended on spending the day. I believe it left a wonderful mark on my calendar of life.
In a world of trying to "make" things special I guess we sometimes loose perspective of what is special. We also end up creating things that we become victims of... like brides getting married on 6/6/06.

ENJOY LIFE!
We are all very busy. BRIDES preparing weddings, Wedding Professionals scurrying around from weekend to weekend ensuring that everything is perfect for their clients, Bridal show Producers ensuring that the next event is perfect for both Bride and Wedding Professional. Pressure, pressure, pressure. Not to mention our private lives, our financial goals, fitness goals, health....Aaauugghhhh! Where does it end?!
Well...after getting off an email letter with my brother in IraqI realize that family is most important. He is in another country, right or wrong. He is defending life and protecting our way of life...for his family.
So this holiday I say: STOP the pressure. STOP planning. STOP worrying. ENJOY! Enjoy the day, the weekend, the family. Go running. Get some much needed sleep. Stay up all night watching a favorite movie or a lot of favorite movies...it doesn't matter what you do as long as you stop working...realize that our industry, the wedding industry, should be about planning great parties and celebrating family.
For the brides/grooms out there this holiday...ENJOY one of the best weekends our country has to offer. One of the best weekends to be in your new life together. If you’re like me married for 18 years with 4 boys, I will stop working and start playing. Again ENJOY, this is the time of our/your life.
ENJOY LIFE! Happy Labor Day!

With 8-8-08 coming up this week, we thought it would be interesting to post this blog on the date.
Before July 7, 2007 there seemed to be mass hysteria about getting married on that date. But most couples unable to find a venue to get married at are now opting for the new lucky day August 8, 2008. August 8, 2008 will fall on a Friday. So most likely will not be quite as popular as July 7, 2007 but it will surely be a day that will go down in history. Since eight to the Chinese culture is a very lucky number watch out for the huge numbers of Chinese getting married on this day.
Most people in the wedding industry will surely capitalize off this day. Due to the high demand, that August 8, 2008 will bring. But it will not be just the Chinese that will be getting married on this day. Couples nowadays, like dates that are very memorable or have a special meaning to them. Although Friday weddings are less popular. sometimes that is not a bad thing. Some vendors offer money saving deals to those who get married on that day instaed of the most popular Satruday or Sunday.
So does August 8, 2008 sound like a cool day for you to get married? Maybe it does maybe it doesn't, but it will definitely be the next big wedding date.

Here are several important things to consider when choosing a date. First, sit down together to determine a priority list. (You both may want to include your families in this conversation, especially if they live out of town.)
The honeymoon: Consider the type of honeymoon you both want. For instance, if you are both sun-worshipers, don't plan a wedding date when your favorite island is experiencing monsoon season.
Work schedules: You both may have work periods when you can't take time off. Select a date when your lives are least demanding.
Holidays and family occasions: Some couples go out of their way to schedule a wedding over a three-day weekend, so everyone has more time together. This idea works best if you send invitations at least eight weeks in advance; otherwise, people might already have plans. ..Consider that traveling MAY be more expensive during holidays, too.
Day of the week: Saturdays are generally the preferred wedding day. That way, out-of-town guests can easily stay overnight. Weekday dates result in some regrets regrets but may offer more availability at some locations or with other wedding professionals
Alternate dates: If possible, have a first-choice date and at least one backup date.
Once the couple decides on a date, the real fun can begin! Work backward from the chosen date to determine a time line of what needs to be done when. Some tasks, such as mailing invitations and picking up the rings, obviously can't be checked off until two months before the Big Day. On the other hand, you both want to take care of other items -- booking a florist and reception site, for example -- and attend a Wedding Expo, at least a year in advance.
