Hawaii Wedding Photographers

Hawaii has the most amazing locations for pictures. You can't go wrong with a sunset picture on the beach, or barefoot in the sand. When choosing a location for your photos, make sure you keep in mind things like is it a public beach that is crowded? Will there be others in the photos? What time of day will it be for sun, and weather?

Once you get all the details figured out, go have fun and enjoy yourself. Your photos will be more real and show your personality if you do.

Here are some photographers to get you started.

Trash the Dress

As I have mentioned before, I love the whole trash the dress concept. I have been married for a little while, and my dress is still hanging in my closet collecting dust. I would much rather have photo's of my groom and I trashing the dress.

This is why they say you should go ahead and trash your dress:

Go ahead, you know you want to. Trash it. Get it dirty. Get it wet. Roll around in the mud. Drench it in the ocean. Totally trash it.

Why? … Why not? You’ve made a commitment to your husband. He’s your one and only true love, right? Then you’ll never need the dress again. And no, your daughter won’t wear it in 20-30 years. So you have two choices:

1) Suffocate it in plastic and throw it in a closet
2) Show your husband how committed you are by trashing the dress, and get some great fun pictures while you do it!

Trash the dress just had a photo shoot in the OC. The pictures should be up soon, but go check out the others. They are very fun and sexy.

A good tip for selecting a photographer is to look at pictures they have taken, this can give you a good idea of their creative style and will tell you if you're a good match. Some photographers also offer videography if this is something your interested in make sure you select a company that can meet both of those needs.

Choosing A Photographer

As a bride choosing a wedding photographer, you now have more options than ever! Here are some important points to remember:

Traditional, Photojournalistic, or Both?
Gone are the days when each photograph is carefully posed. Some brides are opting for wedding photojournalism: candid moments are captured as they unfold, and guests are usually unaware of the photograph being taken. Black and white film is often used. Photographers who employ this style often spend only a few minutes on group photos of the family and wedding party.

Black and White, or Color?
Although many couples are choosing black and white prints, it’s important to note that with contemporary color paper, it’s possible to print both black and white as well as sepia (brown tone) prints from color negatives.

Pricing Structure
Keep in mind that individual photographers may have radically different pricing structures. In fact, there are as many differences as there are photographers! For example, some photographers charge a flat fee for the day, and may or may not have a time limit. Not all photographers provide a proof album; some project the images during a studio presentation.

Quality
Look for quality products, both in the photographer’s images and in the physical product. Many album manufacturers and professional labs offer a lifetime guarantee. A photographer’s products are handled by many hands -- how are they holding up to the wear and tear?

Be Organized
Once you choose a photographer, be sure to discuss your expectations in detail. Will you have a special candle-lighting component in your ceremony? What reception events have you planned? Pay special attention to which group photos of family & friends you would like, and when these will be taken. Be as specific as you can; these are not decisions to make on your wedding day, when you’ll find it impossible to concentrate. Meanwhile, your bored guests are sitting at the reception site, waiting for you to arrive.

Personality
Your photographer’s personality is important to the success of your wedding. If the photograph is to proceed successfully, you’ll need someone who is able to command people to action while maintaining charm. Choose a photographer with whom you are comfortable; on this emotional day you’ll want that peace of mind.

Traditions: Necessary or Old Fashion

Weddings are full of traditions; most are based on old superstition. Which traditions are necessary and which ones are just out dated? Well I guess that depends on personal preference. Here is a post about doing wedding photography before the wedding, and why. (MOWERY'S PHOTOGRAPHY Blog) Its convenience vs. tradition.

Seattle Photographer Featured in Wedding Style Magazine

Jeff_laplante_photography Congratulations to Jeff LaPlante Photography of Everett, Washington who is featured in the Fall/Winter edition of Wedding Style Magazine as a featured wedding photographer.

From his website:

I love shooting weddings. I always get amped up the day before and the emotions of the day fuel me during the entire event. I get teary eyed when the bride and groom are saying their vows.

Jeff is a fellow blogger with lots of wedding photos of his work. He offers Ipod Proofing, which we originally blogged about in January 2006.

Jeff is also featured in Wedding Expo Magazine on pages 114-115 and you can meet him at the Seattle Fall Wedding Expo on September 9-10, 2006 and the Lynnwood-Everett Fall Wedding Expo on September 23-24, 2006.
